Anderson, CA – Fatal Crash on I-5/Balls Ferry Rd. Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
Anderson, CA (April 1, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning, April 1, on northbound Interstate 5 near Balls Ferry Road resulted in the tragic death of a 25-year-old Sacramento man and left two others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident occurred around 1:20 a.m. when a white Jeep SUV, reportedly traveling at high speed, rear-ended a blue Mazda sedan driven by a 64-year-old man from Washington. The impact caused the Jeep to veer off the roadway, crash through a guardrail, and roll down an embankment. Meanwhile, the Mazda came to rest in the center divider.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly and pronounced the Jeep’s driver dead at the scene. Two male passengers in the Jeep, ages 16 and 18, were rushed to Mercy Medical Center for treatment—the 16-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the 18-year-old suffered serious trauma. The Mazda driver was evaluated on-site for non-life-threatening injuries but did not require hospitalization. Investigators are investigating whether speed or impairment played a role in the collision.
Our thoughts are with the deceased victim’s family and friends, and we hope for a quick recovery for the injured.
