Bakersfield, CA – I-5 S Crash near Lerdo Hwy offramp Claims Life, Two Injured
Bakersfield, CA (February 12, 2024) – Tragedy struck on Monday morning, February 12th, around 3:30 a.m. as a collision occurred on southbound Highway I-5 near the Lerdo Highway offramp, resulting in one fatality and two individuals sustaining injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a 25-year-old man from San Francisco, driving southbound on I-5, collided with a Volvo semi-truck north of Lerdo Highway. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, where the driver succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The passengers, aged 24 and 26, were transported to Kern Medical with major and minor injuries, respectively. It was noted that the 24-year-old passenger was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. CHP suspects alcohol may have contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.
