Buttonwillow, CA – Two-Vehicle Crash on NB I-5 Near SR-46 Leaves Injuries
Buttonwillow, CA (April 22, 2025) – On the evening of April 21, a two-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of State Route 46 near Buttonwillow, leaving two people with injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Bakersfield Division responded to the scene shortly after midnight at 12:02 a.m. The accident involved a white Chevrolet Silverado and a black sedan. Initial reports suggest one of the vehicles may have abruptly changed lanes, leading to a side-impact collision that caused both vehicles to come to a stop on the freeway shoulder.
Emergency medical services were quickly dispatched. Responders provided on-site assistance and transported one injured individual to a local hospital for further care. Another victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. The severity of the injuries is currently under review, and no fatalities have been reported. The Bakersfield CHP is continuing with the investigations.
