Fresno Co, CA – Collision on I-5/Coalinga Leaves One Driver Seriously Injured
Fresno County, CA (May 1, 2025) – A serious crash involving multiple big rigs occurred on the afternoon of May 1st along I-5 near Coalinga, resulting in major injuries and a response from the Coalinga Fire Department and California Highway Patrol (CHP).
According to CHP officials, the crash happened when a semi-truck traveling in the No. 1 lane failed to slow down and collided with another big rig directly in front of it. The impact caused the first semi to veer sharply southwest, cutting across the No. 2 lane before crashing into a dirt shoulder. It ultimately struck a set of overhead power lines in the process.
The driver of the first semi was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
As of this report, their condition remains unknown. The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the sequence of events that led to this crash.
