Gustine, CA – Big Rig Collision on I-5 Near Sullivan Road Injures Two
Gustine, CA (January 16, 2025) – Two big rigs collided on northbound I-5 near the Sullivan Road onramp early Thursday morning, January 16, leaving both drivers injured. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred around 4:48 a.m. According to CHP, one truck had been parked on the right shoulder with its 41-year-old driver resting in the sleeper berth. The second truck veered onto the shoulder and struck the parked vehicle, significantly damaging both rigs. Emergency crews responded promptly, providing medical aid at the scene before transferring the injured drivers to a nearby hospital. CHP officials confirmed that both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. The responding authorities worked to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the roadway. Investigators are investigating whether driver fatigue or other factors contributed to the collision.
