Kent, WA – Fatal Rollover Crash on NB I-5 Near S 272nd St
Kent, WA (March 2, 2025) – A 21-year-old woman from Federal Way lost her life in a rollover crash early Sunday morning, March 2, on northbound Interstate 5 just south of the South 272nd Street Exit, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP). The crash occurred at 12:14 a.m. when the woman, driving a Mercedes-Benz GLS, veered into another lane and struck the left side of a Toyota Tacoma traveling in the middle lane.
The impact caused the SUV to roll multiple times across the freeway before coming to a stop on its wheels. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. The Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 47-year-old man from Gig Harbor, swerved into a ditch and landed on its left side. He was injured but survived, and officials noted that he had been wearing a seat belt. The crash resulted in a three-hour closure of northbound I-5 as state troopers investigated. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash or whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the woman’s family and those affected by this tragic accident.
