Lakewood, WA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-5 N at JBLM Main Gate

Lakewood, WA (August 27, 2024) – Late on the night of August 27, a tragic accident resulted in the death of a pedestrian on southbound I-5, just north of the JBLM Main Gate. The Washington State Patrol, alongside the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Tacoma district, quickly responded to the scene after receiving the report around 11:46 p.m. Initial reports from Trooper John Dattilo indicate that the pedestrian was in the left lane when the accident occurred. The vehicle’s driver stopped immediately and has been fully cooperating with investigators. Both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were unharmed in the incident. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing as authorities work to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
