Maxwell, CA – Wrong-Way & Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5/Maxwell Rd
Maxwell, CA (January 31, 2025) – A wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Maxwell Road on the morning of January 31, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes. According to CHP, the wrong-way driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes when they struck the first vehicle in their path. The driver of that car attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was clipped, causing their vehicle to crash with another car in the slow lane.
Emergency responders, including local fire and rescue teams, arrived quickly to assess the scene and provide medical assistance. All injured parties were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. CHP is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the wrong-way driving.
