Napavine, WA – Longview Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5 Near MM 70
Napavine, WA (November 20, 2024) – Jared I. Cox, a 28-year-old man from Longview, tragically lost his life in a multi-vehicle accident on I-5 near mile marker 70 late Tuesday night, November 19. The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. and prompted an immediate response from the Washington State Patrol. Authorities stated that Cox was stopped in the southbound left lane in his 2020 Toyota Camry when it was struck by a 2016 BMW SUV driven by Cheng Wei Huang, 57, of Hillsboro, Oregon. The impact sent Cox’s vehicle into the northbound lanes, where it was struck by multiple vehicles. Huang and his passenger, 23-year-old Hsi Fu Huang, escaped without injuries. It remains unclear whether Cox was inside or outside his vehicle at the time of the collision. Both vehicles were declared totaled, and investigators are working to determine if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. On Wednesday morning, the state patrol issued a public appeal for witnesses who may have information about the crash.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Jared Cox during this difficult time.
