Newhall Pass, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on SB I-5/SR-14 Int

Newhall Pass, CA (March 5, 2025) – A 55-year-old man from Hacienda Heights was struck and killed by a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon, March 5, on southbound I-5 just south of the I-5 and SR-14 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

The crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m., when CHP officers received reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle on the right shoulder of I-5. Upon arrival, officers found that the pedestrian had been struck by a semi-truck. CHP officers administered life-saving measures until L.A. County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene.

Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. CHP has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear why the pedestrian was on the freeway at the time of the accident.
