Oceanside, CA – Hit-and-Run Crash on I-5/Viewpoint Offramp Leaves Victim Injured
Oceanside, CA (April 18, 2025) – A hit-and-run crash left one person injured Friday evening, April 18, along Interstate 5 south at the Viewpoint offramp in Oceanside, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident took place around 5:54 p.m. when a sedan was found on the right shoulder of the off-ramp, damaged and unoccupied by the time CHP officers arrived. The driver of the other involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement could gather more details.
Authorities suspect the accident was caused by a reckless maneuver, possibly involving a high-speed lane change. The victim sustained undisclosed injuries and received on-site medical attention. It’s unclear whether the victim was later transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. CHP officers from the San Diego division launched an investigation.
