Oceanside, CA – Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5/Aliso Creek Rest Area Injures One
Oceanside, CA (May 4, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision near the Aliso Creek Rest Area on northbound I-5 in Oceanside caused injuries and traffic delays during the morning hours of May 3rd. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene around 10:19 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a gray SUV and a sedan in the slow lanes just south of the rest area entrance. Fire Department units also arrived and temporarily blocked the number 4 lane to allow emergency personnel to access the scene safely. One of the vehicles, a gray SUV, was moved to the right-hand shoulder. Though damage was initially unclear, one party reportedly sustained injuries and was evaluated at the scene. It remains unclear whether hospitalization was necessary. A tow truck was called to the scene but later disregarded, as one vehicle appeared to be drivable. The incident created a significant traffic hazard, prompting a slow-down in the surrounding area. Investigators are working to confirm the sequence of events and contributing factors.
