Redding, CA – Fatal Collision on I-5 N at Balls Ferry Rd Off-Ramp

Redding, CA (April 1, 2025) – A tragic accident on April 1 on Interstate 5 North near the Balls Ferry Road off-ramp claimed one life, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. when one driver reportedly failed to see another vehicle, resulting in a severe collision. CHP officers arrived at the scene shortly after to assess the situation and secure the area. Emergency responders confirmed the death of one individual at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of their family. Additional injuries have not been reported at this time. Authorities closed multiple lanes for several hours as they conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. CHP continues to investigate the incident to determine if any external factors played a role.
