Redding, CA – Major Crash Involving Multiple Vehicles on I-5 Leaves Injuries

Redding, CA (May 6, 2025) – On the evening of May 6, a serious crash involving a semi-truck and several vehicles occurred on northbound Interstate 5 in Redding, leading to multiple injuries. The California Highway Patrol and CalFire responded to the incident near Hilltop Drive just after 8:00 p.m. One vehicle, a Cadillac, was found overturned on the shoulder, and a semi-truck carrying around 46,000 pounds of vegetable oil had flipped, resulting in a fuel leak and a potential environmental hazard. CHP reported that one victim was extricated from a vehicle and transported to a local medical center with moderate to serious injuries. Additional injured parties received on-site medical attention from emergency crews. Heavy tow trucks were dispatched to upright the semi and clear the roadway. The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
