Redding, CA – Tragic Pedestrian Wreck on I-5 NB near Cypress Ave offramp
Redding, CA (November 17, 2024) – A 24-year-old man tragically lost his life early Sunday morning, November 17 after being struck by two vehicles on I-5 northbound near the Cypress Avenue offramp. The incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. as the man attempted to cross the road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The pedestrian was hit first by a 2024 Ford Fiesta, which struck him with its front left and windshield, causing fatal injuries. Moments later, as the man lay in the roadway, a 2012 Ford collided with him again. The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead on-site. His identity is pending confirmation by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office. Both drivers were reportedly unharmed, though they are assisting CHP with their ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
