S Lewis Co., WA – Toledo Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5
South Lewis County, WA (September 24, 2024) – A 46-year-old woman from Toledo tragically lost her life in a two-vehicle crash on I-5 Monday evening, September 23. The Washington State Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. as Jennie R. Johnston, riding a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle, was headed east on State Route 506, approaching the exit to southbound I-5. Johnston’s motorcycle was struck by a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 36-year-old Beatriz Martinez Aviles of Woodland, who was turning left onto I-5 southbound. The collision caused Johnston to suffer fatal injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle was completely totaled. Martinez Aviles and her passengers, 49-year-old Francisca Aviles Reyes and 57-year-old Paulina Avilez Reyes, were unharmed in the crash. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
