Sacramento, CA – Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-5 North Near US50 E I5 N Connector Causes Injuries

Sacramento, CA (September 1, 2023) – On the evening of September 1st, a multi-vehicle collision on I-5 North, just south of the US50 E I5 N connector, led to a vehicle fire, injuries and significant traffic disruption in the South Sacramento area.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) swiftly responded to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. The collision involved a black SUV and a black sedan, both of which were blocking one lane of the freeway.

CHP Unit B112-108 arrived to assess the situation and ensure the safety of all involved parties.

During the incident, it was reported that one of the vehicles involved was engulfed in flames and had a propane tank inside. The Sacramento Fire Department (SFD) swiftly responded and actively engaged in controlling the situation.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained were reported as non-life threatening, and on-site medical assessment was provided to those involved. At this time, the extent of injuries is unknown.

Additionally, CHP requested a tow truck from A1 Towing to clear the roadway. CHP Unit B112-108 reported that the roadway was eventually cleared, and the burned Kia was moved off the roadway.

Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of this crash.
