Sacramento, CA – Serious Collision on I-5 North at Dunnigan Onramp Results in Injuries

Sacramento, CA (August 28, 2023) – In the late hours of August 27th, a serious traffic collision occurred on the northbound lanes of I-5 at the Dunnigan onramp, just north of County Road 2, resulting in substantial damage and injuries.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) swiftly responded to the scene after receiving reports of the incident. The collision involved a burgundy Kia Optima and a gray Toyota. According to eyewitnesses, the collision was forceful, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Upon arrival, first responders assessed the situation and confirmed injuries sustained by the occupants of the vehicles. The occupants’ identities have not been disclosed, but the severity of the collision prompted an ambulance to be dispatched to the scene.

CHP coordinated with local towing services to clear the wreckage. All About Tow was designated to handle the Kia Optima, while Citizen Tow was tasked with removing the Chevrolet pick-up truck involved.

The collision led to traffic congestion as debris was scattered across the freeway. It took several hours to clear the road and fully restore traffic flow.

CHP is currently handling the investigations into the crash.
