Salem, OR – Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-5 Near Center St. Overpass

Salem, OR (November 1, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident on I- 5 near the Center Street Overpass in Marion County claimed one life early Thursday morning, October 30. According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), the fatal collision occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes near milepost 256. Reports indicate that a male pedestrian was struck by the side mirror of an unidentified oversized vehicle traveling through the area. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses captured him walking in the area around 4:30 a.m., just before the collision occurred. Authorities found the man deceased at the scene and are currently working to notify next of kin. OSP continues to investigate the crash to determine the vehicle involved and the events leading up to the tragedy.
