San Diego, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-5 Near Sassafras St 

San Diego, CA (December 7, 2024) – Tragedy struck Saturday night, December 7 when a fatal pedestrian accident occurred on I-5 near the intersection of Sassafras Street and Kettner Boulevard, close to the San Diego International Airport. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle around 8:25 p.m. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was attempting to cross the highway when the collision occurred. Sadly, the individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Authorities issued a Sig Alert for southbound I-5, leading to significant traffic disruptions as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene and gather evidence. The driver involved in the incident remained on-site and cooperated with law enforcement.
