San Diego, CA – Two Hurt in Car vs SUV Crash on I-5 S/Mission Bay
San Diego, CA (April 15, 2025) – On the evening of April 15, a two-vehicle accident occurred on the southbound Interstate 5 near Mission Bay, just south of the Garnet Avenue and Balboa exits, leaving two people injured. The collision involved a gray Honda Civic and a white BMW SUV and took place shortly before 6:00 p.m. According to responding officers from the California Highway Patrol, both vehicles suffered front-end damage and were left partially blocking the right lane until cleared. Emergency medical services arrived promptly and provided on-site treatment to the injured.
One person was later transported to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries, while another was treated at the scene. The San Diego Police Department assisted CHP in managing traffic, which slowed significantly in the immediate aftermath. Investigators are working to determine whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the crash.
