San Diego, CA – Two-Vehicle Collision on I-5 N in San Diego, Injuries Reported
San Diego, CA (January 21, 2024) – On January 20th, around 3:06 p.m., a two-vehicle collision took place on I-5 North at 28th So National in San Diego. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the crash scene which involved a gray SUV colliding with a dark green pickup truck, which, in turn, collided with a white SUV on the right-hand shoulder. Additionally, a white sedan in lane 3 collided with another vehicle on the hill’s right-hand shoulder, with details unknown. Emergency responders, including CHP units and towing services, were dispatched. Coastal Pride reported a second collision at the same location, leading to the freeway closure until CHP’s arrival. The Merced Communication Center called for a flatbed tow truck for non-injury reasons. All involved vehicles were on the right-hand shoulder, northbound just south of National. Occupants from both vehicles were safely out, with reported injuries. The injured victims were swiftly transported to a medical facility for necessary treatment. Currently, the identities of those involved remain undisclosed, and the collision’s cause is under investigation.
