San Diego, CA – Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5 S/Mission Bay Injures Elderly Driver

San Diego, CA (April 8, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision involving a white Chevrolet Sonic and a black Nissan Armada occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Mission Bay, just south of Garnet Avenue and Balboa Avenue, on the evening of April 7. The crash happened around 9:46 p.m., prompting a quick response from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A passing motorist reported that the elderly driver of the Chevrolet Sonic appeared to need medical assistance. Emergency medical services were requested immediately, and the Merced Communication Center coordinated the call for medics to assess the injured individual.
