Santa Ana, CA – Fatal Motorcycle-Bicycle Collision on I-5 North at SR22 Intersection

Santa Ana, CA (August 17, 2023) – Tragedy struck on the evening of August 17th when a fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes of I-5 at the SR22 intersection in Santa Ana, Orange County.

At around 8:06 PM, emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a bicycle. The motorcyclist and the bicyclist were both parties involved in this tragic incident. Sadly, one of the parties, identified as the bicyclist’s girlfriend, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.

Upon arrival, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) swiftly took control of the scene. The Hazmat crew was advised of the situation, and a SIG Alert was issued, temporarily affecting traffic in the area. The coroner was summoned to the scene, and measures were taken to block the affected lanes.

Emergency medical services from the Trauma Intervention Program were dispatched, and the injured parties were assessed and attended to. The motorcyclist was transported by a responding ambulance for further evaluation and treatment.
