Shasta Co., CA – Two-Vehicle Wreck on I-5 & Cottonwood Rd, Injuries

Shasta County, CA (March 15, 2025) – A serious accident involving a blue sedan and a white SUV took place on Saturday afternoon, March 15, on Interstate 5 South near Cottonwood Road. The crash, which occurred around 1:03 p.m., left at least one person injured. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident was initiated when a white SUV, bearing the plate number 9DON675, forced a blue four-door sedan off the road. The impact caused the sedan to collide with the center divider, where it was then struck by a nearby big rig.

A female passenger in the sedan, who was reportedly pregnant, sustained a head injury and requested immediate medical attention. Emergency medical services, including American Medical Response (AMR), arrived at the scene and provided care before transporting her to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. The incident remains under investigation by the CHP, as they work to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any citations will be issued.
