Tacoma, WA (January 13, 2025) – A pedestrian and two others were injured in a crash on southbound Interstate 5 near the 84th Street exit early Monday morning, January 13. The incident, which occurred around 12:45 AM, involved a stopped vehicle, a pedestrian, and another car crossing the gore point, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. A 47-year-old Hoquiam man had exited his vehicle to inspect a flat tire when a Puyallup woman, 45, struck his parked car. The impact pushed the vehicle into the man, causing serious injuries.
The pedestrian was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center, while a female passenger inside the parked car was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Puyallup driver also sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Authorities suspect the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
