Tehama, CA – Two-Car Wreck on I-5 NB at Sunset Hills Off-Ramp With Injuries
Tehama, CA (December 7, 2023) – On December 7th, a collision occurred on northbound I-5 at the Sunset Hills off-ramp, leaving two individuals injured, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The incident involved Dawn Potterton, 59, driving a blue 2014 Hyundai Sonata at 25 mph in the number two lane, and Freddy Nsunzu, 46, operating a white 2023 Freightliner Cascadia with a loaded trailer at 60 mph in the same lane. The Freightliner collided with the rear of the Hyundai, causing both vehicles to cross the center median into northbound lanes. The Freightliner overturned, and the Hyundai stopped on the east shoulder. Both drivers were hospitalized for pain-related injuries. Potterton was arrested, and impairment is under investigation.
