Walnut Grove, CA (February 13, 2025) – A fatal accident involving a sedan and a big rig occurred early Thursday, February 13 on southbound I-5 in south Sacramento County. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was dispatched to the scene around 5:01 a.m. near the offramp for Twin Cities Road. Authorities reported that the sedan and the big rig collided under unclear circumstances. Emergency responders from the Walnut Grove Fire Protection District confirmed that the sedan’s driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the big rig was unharmed. The accident led to temporary traffic delays in the area as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of family members. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
