Downey, CA – Two Car Crash on I-5, One Hospitalized
Downey, CA (November 19, 2025) – A serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and an Amazon semi-truck left one driver trapped on the northbound I-5 at Lakewood Boulevard early Wednesday morning, November 19. The crash was reported just after 12:00 a.m., prompting an immediate response from the California Highway Patrol and Downey Fire Department. Officials said the smaller vehicle became wedged beneath the trailer, leaving the driver unable to get out on their own. Fire crews used hydraulic rescue tools to carefully remove the pinned motorist, working for several minutes to stabilize the vehicle before lifting the crushed front end.
Once freed, the injured driver was transported to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for moderate injuries, though their exact condition has not yet been released. The Amazon truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Northbound lanes were partially closed for cleanup and scene documentation, causing traffic delays until the early morning hours. CHP officers are still working to determine what factors contributed to the collision.
We wish the injured driver a full and speedy recovery.
