Lewis Co., WA – Four Hurt in School Bus and Car Crash on I-5 NB

Lewis County, WA (October 12, 2025) – Four people were injured on Friday, October 10, after a collision involving a school bus and a Ford Mustang on northbound Interstate 5. The Washington State Patrol reported that the crash occurred just before midnight as the bus traveled north with 16 passengers, many of them teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18. A 22-year-old Lewis County man driving a 2022 Ford Mustang allegedly attempted to pass another vehicle at high speed and lost control.

Investigators say the Mustang collided with the school bus, forcing both vehicles into the median. The driver of the Mustang and the 54-year-old bus driver, a woman from Monroe, were both injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. Two bus passengers, a 49-year-old man from Texas and a 15-year-old boy from Snohomish, were also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Authorities stated that the crash was caused by “speeds too fast for conditions.” Washington State Patrol officers closed parts of the highway while clearing the scene, documenting the damage, and arranging transportation for the remaining passengers. No fatalities were reported, and all other occupants were assessed at the scene.

We extend our best wishes to those hurt and hope they experience full recoveries.
