Linn County, OR (October 22, 2025) – A tragic two-motorcycle accident on I-5 near milepost 234 claimed one life on Saturday morning, October 18. Oregon State Police reported that around 11:40 a.m., a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 42-year-old Joshua David Moore of Springfield lost control while slowing for traffic and went down in the travel lane. A second Harley-Davidson, driven by 60-year-old Jan Allen Hicks Sr. of Eugene, was unable to stop in time and collided with the downed rider. Moore was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. Hicks was reportedly uninjured in the crash.
Troopers and crash reconstruction experts spent several hours at the scene documenting evidence and clearing debris from the roadway. Traffic along I-5 was slowed for an extended period as authorities investigated the cause of the tragic accident.
