Los Angeles, CA – BMW and Toyota Collide on I-5 S, Injuries Reported

Los Angeles, CA (August 12, 2025) – Late on the night of August 12, a multi-vehicle collision involving a white BMW and a white Toyota Tacoma occurred on the southbound lanes of I-5 near E Cesar Chavez Avenue in Central Los Angeles. The California Highway Patrol arrived around 11:45 p.m.  Officials initially suspected a wrong-way crash, but later confirmed it was not. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded, providing on-site medical aid to at least one injured driver. Another involved party, who had been in a semi-truck on the right shoulder, declined ambulance transport but provided dashcam footage showing the BMW crashing into another vehicle. Tow trucks were requested for the damaged vehicles, and crews worked to clear debris from the roadway. Authorities are reviewing all available evidence to determine the exact cause of the crash.
