Los Angeles, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5 Near E Cesar Chavez Ave Injures Motorist

Los Angeles, CA (August 13, 2025) – Late Tuesday night, August 12, a collision involving multiple vehicles caused injuries on the southbound I-5 near E Cesar Chavez Avenue in Central Los Angeles. California Highway Patrol officers responded around 11:45 p.m. to find a white BMW and a white Toyota Tacoma blocking several middle lanes.

Initial reports suggested a possible wrong-way, head-on impact, though later investigation indicated no wrong-way entry occurred. One vehicle sustained major front-end damage, and a semi-truck driver who witnessed the crash provided dashcam footage to officers.

The Los Angeles Fire Department assessed the injured at the scene, with at least one person transported for further treatment. Tow trucks were dispatched, and all lanes remained closed for an extended period as debris was cleared. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
