Mount Vernon, WA – Rollover Crash Blocks I-5 Bridge Over Skagit River

Mount Vernon, WA (September 27, 2025) – A rollover crash on the Interstate 5 bridge between Burlington and Mount Vernon caused major traffic delays on Thursday, September 25.

According to local reports, the collision left at least one vehicle overturned on the bridge span. Photos from the scene showed a car resting on its roof in the middle of the roadway. Witnesses said multiple drivers stopped to assist before emergency crews arrived.

All northbound lanes were initially blocked, bringing traffic to a standstill. Southbound lanes also experienced heavy slowdowns as vehicles passed the crash site. Law enforcement and tow crews worked to clear the scene and reopen the bridge.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether any injuries occurred. The cause of the rollover remains under investigation.
