Oceanside, CA – Injury Crash on I-5 North at SR-78 Involving Semi-Truck

Oceanside, CA (August 14, 2025) – A collision between a black Honda Civic and a white semi-truck on I-5 North near the SR-78 Vista Way interchange left at least one person injured Thursday evening, August 14. The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol officers arrived to find the Honda with severe driver-side damage, and the semi-truck pulled to the shoulder. Paramedics provided on-site aid before transporting an injured motorist to a nearby trauma center.

No other serious injuries were immediately reported. Authorities worked to clear debris and fuel spill hazards while keeping traffic moving in the remaining lanes. Investigators are looking into what caused the crash. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud impact before seeing the smaller car spin out.

The affected lanes reopened after nearly two hours, though congestion persisted well into the evening commute.
