Sacramento, CA – Semi-Truck Crash on I-5 N/I-80 Leaves Injuries

Sacramento, CA (January 6, 2026) – A collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle occurred on January 5, I-5 northbound near the Interstate 80 interchange in South Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol reported that a red Toyota Yaris was involved in the crash with a commercial semi. The impact resulted in traffic hazards across multiple lanes before vehicles were moved to the right shoulder. Freeway Service Patrol arrived first and requested medical assistance. One individual sustained non-serious injuries and was evaluated by responding medical teams. The injured party later received additional assessment at a medical facility. CHP officers documented the scene and confirmed all lanes were eventually cleared. No fatalities were reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
