San Diego, CA – Semi-Truck and Honda Crash on I-5 S/E Street; Injuries Reported

San Diego, CA (August 20, 2025) – A serious collision involving a semi-truck and a black Honda Accord occurred on I-5 southbound near E Street on Wednesday morning, August 20.

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash shortly after 10:15 a.m. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and at least one person was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.

The severity of those injuries has not yet been disclosed. The semi-truck and the sedan both sustained significant damage, blocking part of the roadway and disrupting traffic in the South Bay area. CHP officers quickly secured the crash site and directed traffic around the scene. Tow trucks were called in to remove the wrecked vehicles, and cleanup crews cleared debris from the lanes to restore normal flow.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
