San Diego, CA – Three-Vehicle Crash on I-5 N near E St. Leaves Multiple Hurt
San Diego, CA (September 30, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 North near E Street left multiple people injured Tuesday morning, prompting a response from the San Diego Police Department and California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred in the South Bay area during peak commute hours and involved two passenger vehicles and an SUV.
Officials say the crash was triggered when one vehicle suddenly braked, causing a chain-reaction impact. At least two individuals reported injuries and were treated on-site by medical personnel. One occupant was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation due to complaints of chest and shoulder pain.
No fatalities were reported, and all drivers remained cooperative as statements were collected. Traffic was temporarily diverted to allow crews to remove debris and restore flow to the northbound lanes. Investigators are working to determine whether distraction or tailgating played a role in the crash.
We wish a speedy recovery to all those involved.
