San Diego, CA – Two-Car Crash on I-5 at Civic Center Plz Leaves One Injured

San Diego, CA (August 4, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash early Monday morning, August 4, on Interstate 5 South near Civic Center Plaza in the National City/Chula Vista area resulted in injuries. CHP officers arrived at the scene around 12:16 a.m. and found a black Mercedes sedan and a red Nissan involved in the crash, with both vehicles blocking major lanes. A third vehicle, an Altima, was reportedly struck during the incident and ended up on the shoulder after a motorist stopped to check on those involved.

Emergency responders assessed the scene and treated at least one injured person before arranging transport to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation. Tow trucks from Quality Tow and Cortes Tow were dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles and reopen lanes. Investigators are working to determine what led to the collision.
