Boyle Heights, CA – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5, Multiple Injuries Reported
Boyle Heights, CA (December 28, 2025) – A deadly multi-vehicle crash on southbound I-5 in Boyle Heights left one person dead and at least 15 others injured early Sunday morning, December 28. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just south of 4th Street around 5:00 a.m. when a semi-truck struck several passenger vehicles in the southbound lanes. Investigators reported that at least nine vehicles sustained severe front-end damage, and one vehicle briefly caught fire before being extinguished. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles Fire Department evaluated 15 individuals, transporting 10 victims to nearby hospitals for treatment of traumatic injuries. The remaining victims received on-site medical assistance. CHP officers closed multiple lanes for several hours while documenting evidence and clearing wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
