Buttonwillow, CA – Multi-Semi Crash on I-5 at 7th Standard Rd Leaves Injuries

Buttonwillow, CA (August 12, 2025) – Late Monday night, August 12, a crash involving at least two semi-trailer trucks caused injuries and significant disruption along southbound I-5 in the Buttonwillow area, west of Bakersfield. The California Highway Patrol reports the collision occurred around 10 p.m. near the 7th Standard Road interchange. Initial reports indicate that both trucks sustained substantial damage in the impact. At least one ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and paramedics provided medical assistance to the injured parties before transporting them to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The number of people injured and the extent of their injuries remain under investigation. Traffic in the southbound lanes was slowed as crews worked to clear debris and remove the damaged vehicles. CHP officers are investigating factors that may have contributed to the crash.
