Buttonwillow, CA – SUV Collides with Semi on I-5 at SR-46, Injuries Reported
Buttonwillow, CA (September 16, 2025) – A collision involving a white SUV and a semi-truck occurred Tuesday afternoon, September 16, on southbound In-5 near the State Route 46 interchange in Buttonwillow.
The accident happened just after 1:11 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Early reports indicate that the SUV struck the rear of an Amazon semi-truck along the right shoulder of the freeway. One of the occupants of the SUV was evaluated at the scene but initially declined transport to the hospital. However, they later reported memory loss regarding the crash, raising concerns about a possible head injury. Authorities closed several lanes while emergency personnel worked at the scene, causing temporary traffic delays in the area. Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the damaged SUV, and Castro Towing assisted with clearing the roadway. CHP continues to investigate the incident.
