Cottonwood, CA – Fatal Collision on I-5/Cottonwood Scales
Cottonwood, CA (November 10, 2025) – A tragic crash on Sunday, November 9, on Interstate 5 claimed one life after a gray Honda Civic collided with a truck tractor-trailer near the Cottonwood Scales. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 11:35 p.m. in the southbound lanes.
Investigators reported that the Honda Civic drifted into the onramp lane and struck the rear of the trailer with significant force. The impact caused catastrophic damage to the vehicle, leaving the driver, who was the only occupant, fatally injured at the scene. Officials have withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification.
CHP officers closed parts of I-5 while conducting their investigation and clearing the wreckage. No other injuries were reported. Authorities urge anyone with information about the collision to contact the Red Bluff Area CHP office at (530) 737-6746.
