Downey, CA – Minor Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-5 NB at Lakewood Blvd
Downey, CA (December 12, 2025) – At least one person suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, December 9. The collision happened around 4:18 p.m. on Interstate 5 northbound at the Lakewood Boulevard off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Toyota Corolla and a gray Toyota RAV4 were involved. Early reports show the Corolla was reversing on the off-ramp and moving against traffic when it hit the RAV4. An ambulance arrived to check the injured, and responders gave care at the scene.
Troopers did not make any arrests. Officials have not yet said what caused the Corolla to reverse toward oncoming vehicles. Crews removed both vehicles and cleared debris from the area. The offramp and shoulder lanes were slowed, but traffic on the main lanes mainly stayed normal.
Investigators are still gathering details to learn why the Corolla entered the lane against traffic.
