Eugene, OR – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Dump Truck on I-5 Near MP 186
Eugene, OR (July 29, 2025) – A fatal multi-vehicle crash involving up to nine vehicles occurred Tuesday morning, July 29, on Interstate 5 southbound near milepost 186 in Lane County, according to Oregon State Police.
The collision began around 8 a.m. when two passenger vehicles used an emergency turnaround to enter the northbound lanes and struck a southbound dump truck head-on. Three more vehicles were later involved in a secondary crash on the southbound side.
One person died at the scene, and another suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The highway was shut down for several hours as emergency crews responded. Authorities have not released the names of those involved, pending family notification. Oregon State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
