Los Angeles, CA – Fatal Big Rig and Sedan Collision on I-5/Calzona St.
Los Angeles, CA (November 17, 2025) – One person died on November 17 following a devastating crash involving a big rig and a sedan in Boyle Heights. The collision occurred just before 1 p.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway near Calzona Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). First responders arrived to find the sedan severely damaged, with its driver tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
LAFD officials confirmed that the victim was the sole occupant of the car. The big-rig driver remained at the scene and cooperated with California Highway Patrol investigators. Authorities have not yet released information on what caused the vehicles to collide, and investigators are working to determine the sequence of events leading up to the fatal impact. Several lanes were closed for an extended period as officers examined the scene and crews cleared the wreckage.
