Marion Co., OR – One Dead, Others Injured in Four-Vehicle Crash on I-5/MP 272
Marion County, OR (October 27, 2025) – A deadly four-vehicle collision occurred Sunday afternoon, October 26, on I-5 near milepost 272 in Marion County. According to Oregon State Police, the crash took place around 2:40 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 26-year-old Didier Lair Fuentes of Keizer, attempted to merge southbound from Highway 214. Investigators say Fuentes abruptly crossed lanes and collided with a Western Star commercial truck driven by 36-year-old Manmohan Singh of Surrey, B.C. The impact caused the semi-truck to jackknife across the highway, striking a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 63-year-old Jeff David Peterson of Keizer and pushing it into the median. A Toyota Matrix, operated by 34-year-old Ashley Danielle Peugh of Murphy, Idaho, was hit by debris while trying to avoid the wreck.
Fuentes was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Singh and Peterson escaped without injuries, while Peugh suffered non-life-threatening wounds and received on-site medical attention. The crash shut down portions of I-5 for approximately four hours as troopers documented the scene and cleared the debris.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Didier Fuentes and wish those injured a swift recovery.
