San Diego, CA – Hit-and-Run Crash on I-5 S/La Jolla Village Leaves Injuries
San Diego, CA (August 25, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash involving a hit-and-run driver occurred on Interstate 5 South near La Jolla Village on Monday morning, August 25, leaving at least one person injured.
CHP officers arrived around 10:07 a.m. and found two damaged vehicles in the center divider, both facing the wrong way. Witnesses reported that a dark-colored Mazda 3 involved in the crash fled the scene before authorities arrived. The other vehicle, a Toyota SUV, sustained visible damage, and one occupant was seen standing outside with possible injuries.
Emergency responders provided on-site care while arranging for further medical evaluation. Tow trucks were also dispatched to remove the wrecked vehicles, one of which was smoking. Authorities are now investigating the incident as a hit-and-run, and efforts are underway to locate the Mazda and its driver. Traffic was impacted until the scene was fully cleared.
