San Diego, CA – Major Motorcycle Crash on I-5 N Leaves Rider Seriously Injured

San Diego, CA (August 25, 2025) – A serious motorcycle crash occurred on Monday evening, August 25, along northbound Interstate 5 near Carmel Valley, south of SR-56. The collision, reported just after 8:00 p.m., left the rider with major injuries. According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle collided with a white sedan, triggering a chain reaction that involved several other vehicles. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the roadway and sustained critical injuries.

Emergency crews provided immediate care at the scene before rushing the rider to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for further treatment. Two tow trucks were dispatched to clear the wrecked vehicles. Several lanes were blocked for more than an hour, creating a major backup for evening commuters.

CHP officers indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, as one driver was being investigated for possible DUI. The incident remains under active investigation.
