San Diego, CA – Motorcycle Rider Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5 S/H St.

San Diego, CA (July 31, 2025) – A motorcyclist was injured late Thursday night, July 31, following a multi-vehicle crash on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near H Street in San Diego. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:07 p.m. and involved up to five vehicles.

Witnesses reported that two of the vehicles, a black Ford SUV and a white Camaro, were racing moments before the collision. During the incident, one of the vehicles reportedly struck a motorcycle, forcing the rider into the center divider. Fortunately, the motorcyclist was able to stand after the impact, though he sustained injuries and was assessed by medical personnel at the scene.

The full extent of his injuries remains undisclosed. A white BMW with significant front-end damage was located abandoned nearby on Frontage Road. Authorities believe the vehicle may have been involved and fled the scene.

CHP officers are continuing their investigation.
